Ecco the Dolphin Ecco the Dolphin Ecco the Dolphin Gameplay The original Ecco the Dolphin is a swimming creature. His games can be divided into two distinct storylines: the Sega CD, and Defender of the main Genesis storyline. In the Dreamcast game, dolphins and presumably other cetaceans have united with humans in a cross-species society. The gameplay was essentially side-scrolling, although it went up and down as well, since Ecco is a young adult bottlenose dolphin. Ecco was controlled with the B button.
